Fake it till you make it

I am sure you have heard the phrase. Fake it till you make it. I guess for me this has been a life style. When I started my construction company I knew enough, to get me in the door. But I learned so much more along the way. I would get asked by customers to do things I had never done before, so I would fake it. Luckily I am a fast learner and very creative and artistic. So even if i have never done something before I could make it look like I had. I will say, you can't do everything, but you can do a lot. I guess for me, I have always loved a challenge, so when someone asked me if I could do something I always said yes. I have never been afraid of trying new things, and this has definitely made me more well rounded as a carpenter, and a business owner. Most of the time it is our own fears that keep us from learning new things, trying new things, or doing something we didn't even think possible.

Just look at baby's, they don't know how to do anything. Everything they do from walking to talking they just have to do it, and they are not afraid of falling. We think to much, if people had to wait till they were an adult before they could learn to walk and talk, I believe several people would not even try. Did you know people die every year from choking, instead of trying to get help, they feel embarrassed and go hide in a bathroom stall. I would much rather be embarrassed that I am choking in public, than die in a bathroom stall. But that's just it, some people are more afraid of causing a scene, than dying.

I think sometimes we need to be more like babies, and just go after what we want. Babies are not be afraid of falling or making a fool out of them selves. As human beings we need to learn to not be afraid to fail. When we fail, or make mistakes it is uncomfortable, and when we are uncomfortable we grow. I believe that no one grows when they are comfortable. If you ask anyone who is successful, they can show you how they got to where they are, by all the mistakes and failures that they made along the way. Mistakes and failures fuel us to grow, to get better, to think outside the box, to be creative. No one becomes successful without falling on your face a couple of times. So don't be afraid, try something new, if it doesn't work out, don't let it define you. Think about it and try again, or try something else. But remember to be bold, because sometimes you just have to fake it, till you make it.
